Africa Captured by Nick Brandt

Image result for nick brandt   I felt very moved by what he said about the disappearing wildlife in Africa, as a person who cares very much about preservation of nature it kinda hit home. In his pictures I felt like I was looking at the animals in a whole new light. I thought I knew what a lion and a zebra looked like but he brought it into whole new light for me.

This picture is of a grass land that was turned into a landfill, with a picture of cheetahs photoshopped in on top of the trash pile.  This picture is my favorite because I was really moved by it. It made me feel sympathy for the wildlife and the land that has suffered from human error and garbage.

In the picture there is rule of thirds, balance, there is also foreground and background. The rule of thirds applies with the 3 cheetahs and where they are placed which is in the right hand third of the photo. balance is present because of the subjects in the foreground and background.

He didn't use a telephoto lens with his photos. The camera lens was important because he wanted to capture more emotion in his photos. He wanted us to be able to see the soul of the animal and you cant capture that from far away with a telephoto lens.

Brandt hopes to bring light to the vanishing of wildlife in Africa with his photos He wants to preserve the land that he loves taking picture of.
