2017 Review

The way that this photo was framed, to show the mural in the background then have the bloodied and displaced pews in front of it really got me. I wasn't even aware of the attack that happened here and i feel like this picture is a very powerful representation of it.

I really like the motion and the action that you can see happening in the photo. Its also a powerful representation of how violent and harmful the white nationalist party is, a car was run through a group of people who were participating in a (somewhat) peaceful protest. Honestly all I can say is what the heck?????? 

The different emotions and the variety of reactions in this picture really got me on my knees laughing. You have a lot of people cheering and clapping, and a select few people who look disappointed and even hurt at the change.

Best Song of 2017- Castle on the Hill, Ed Sheeran 

 I picked this song because I really like Ed Sheeran's music and his style that he creates with his voice and instrumentals in the background. "Castle on the Hill" has a lot of those elements that I really like in a song in it. Ed Sheeran was in the top 100 at least 3 time that I saw, more than any other artist that I saw. 2017 was really his year, and it was well deserved. The song "Castle on the Hill" is a song about a journey through childhood to adulthood and recalling moments in the past that were happy and melancholy at the same time.

Best Movie of 2017- Wonder Woman

 This movie is my top pick because I saw it at least 4 times in a movie theatre. This movie portrayed a (pardon my language) Badass Woman, in a totally different light, usually when we get a strong female character she is portrayed as uncaring, hardened, and "one of the guys". Wonder woman showed a badass women who still had the kindness and compassion that women have. They let the population see that you can still kick but and be an mazing woman, without dropping what makes women amazing and beautiful, and thats compassion. It dropped the stereotype that if a woman wants to be strong and independent she has to be cold and shut off towards the world.

Most Important News Story of 2017- Hurricane Harvey

    I chose Hurricane harvey as the most important story because it effected me the most. I had just moved from Houston 3 weeks before the hurricane hit. All of my family and friends at the time had lived in Houston, and a lot of them were effected by this and even lost their homes due to Harvey. The hurricanes that hit the U.S. this year brought a lot of people together to help one another. So many people were devastated by this and it impacted so many lives of the people that I know that there was no contest for the most important story.

Best People of 2017- Women Against Sexual Harassment

   During 2017 a lot of men were exposed for sexual harassment against women. Matt Lauer, Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and Mark Halperin, just to name a few. The women who stand up to this and who speak up against it are the true heroines. It takes a lot of courage to say something especially if the man you are calling out has a lot of power, they know what might happen if they were to say something, the women who were involved with Bill Clinton  had to change their names after they spoke up, because they were getting slandered so much. So, every single woman who stood up to sexual harassment this year, and every other time before that is a person to be proud of, because they would not let this happen to anyone else out there.


  During my break I went to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon and Sedona. I came back with a pretty cool mug and shoes covered in red sand. 

In 2018 I want to let go of some of the negative things that I think, and try to be a happier, lighter me. I also want to meet some new people and try some new things, cause the world is mine to grasp.

Im looking forward to my first summer in Austin. Im also looking forward to the end of swim season cause I love the team but practices are aaaa loooooot. Im also turning 16 this year so I want to enjoy that while I can. also driving yeeeees!!
