Phobia Project
A phobia is defined as an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.
5 ideas for phobia-
Hematophobia- Fear of blood.
Gephyrophobia or Gephydrophobia or Gephysrophobia- Fear of crossing bridges.
Hylophobia- Fear of forests
Ablutophobia- Fear of washing or bathing.
Somniphobia- Fear of sleep.
Photo Ideas-
Hematophobia- I want to get some fake blood and get my model have blood on their hands and blood coming out of their nose, ears, and eyes (maybe eyes). I want to get a shot straight on from the front of their face with a grossed out or tense expression, I want to get one overhead shot of them sitting crosed legged with their bloody hands in their lap, then a profile photo with them looking at their bloody hands terrified.
Hylophobia- I have a woodsy-area around my house that freaked me out when I was a kid so I would like to get some creepy pictures of someone in there at dark.
Ablutophobia- I have a fear of taking a bath, just the aspect of sitting in your own dirty water makes my skin crawl so I would like to get an overhead picture of someone in a filled bathtub, fully clothed, with a look of distress on their face.
Somniphobia- I'm thinking of a picture of a person in a bed with their eyes wide open, clutching the blanket frozen stiff. Probably a close up of just the person's eyes and hands clutching the blanket.
Gephyrophobia- I would like to go to Pennybacker bridge and get a photo from the back of a person who is clutching the railings on the side.
For most of these, I want to have an erie, stark lighting in order to capture that element of creepiness, for the ones outside I am most likely going to take them at dusk or right before sunset. Also adding cool-toned lighting or using the camera flash will give me that effect I think. My models are most likely going to be myself, my neighbours Andre, Matt, and Dany, or someone from the swim team.
My top choices are going to have to be Hematophobia, Hylophobia, and Ablutophobia, but as an alternative, I'm going to do Somniphobia, in case I can't get any of my friends to sit in a bathtub fully clothed. In my Hematophobia I want to really focus on the lighting that would focus most on the blood and make the person I'm photographing look really pale and sick. In my Hylophobia picture, I want to give the effect that there is something lurking in the woods by keeping the space dark and only lighting some trees that are in the front. For my Ablutophobia I want to get a picture view from inside of the tub looking up from the waterline, and another viewpoint I would like to capture is of someone under the water from an overhead view.
