American Soilder

The most powerful picture in my opinion was the one were he is with his mother and his girlfriend and they are all holding hands and walking. It gives this sense of finality with his story. He has done his time and he has became the man that he knew that he could be. Even though at some times it was challenging.     The images work to tell the story of growth, both physically and mentally. You can see him go from this shrimpy kid to this buff and strong looking man that he is today. You also see him evolve mentally through his actions in the photos. His expressions throughout the whole journey really give away to what he is thinking.     The captions work to enhance the story be providing us with what is going on in the photo. They also provide us with background information and helpful quotes that help us truly understand and get the meaning of the photo and its significance.     Fisher was a kid who decided that he would carry on his dads legacy and enlist in the army. Norman (right)  and Gretta (left) compete in the Indie 500 of scooter racing.  This was Normans 3rd time competing in this event, while this was rookie Gretta's first year.  Earl is racing back to his house, he seems to have forgotten his pants. That is not the first time this has happened though, but at least that time he remembered his helmet.  Elise Goldberg is celebrating her 100th birthday by proving that she does what she wants. Her mother told her not to smoke, but her mothers dead so she does what she wants.

Abandoned Theme Parks

I would like to bring my camera to this park because it is probably the most erie to me. It also hits close to home being destroyed in Katrina back n '05. This would be a really cool thing to take pictures of if you where doing a documentary on the effects Katrina had on New Orleans, and how we still feel the waves of those effects today. I feel like I could take some cool post-apocalyptic photos here. Five unusual places to take photos would be abandoned shoppes or shops that where foreclosed on, the inside of a clock tower, closed schools, haunted houses in Georgia is one that I've always wanted to do, you could also take photos in an old hospital. I think it would be fun to photograph an abandoned hospital because they are usually spooky and erie places to go. I personally am a fan of ghosts and haunted places so this would be right up my ally. There would also be that cool degraded factor that you get from going to abandoned places, like the paint peeling and the rust

Africa Captured by Nick Brandt

I felt very moved by what he said about the disappearing wildlife in Africa, as a person who cares very much about preservation of nature it kinda hit home. In his pictures I felt like I was looking at the animals in a whole new light. I thought I knew what a lion and a zebra looked like but he brought it into whole new light for me. This picture is of a grass land that was turned into a landfill, with a picture of cheetahs photoshopped in on top of the trash pile.  This picture is my favorite because I was really moved by it. It made me feel sympathy for the wildlife and the land that has suffered from human error and garbage. In the picture there is rule of thirds, balance, there is also foreground and background. The rule of thirds applies with the 3 cheetahs and where they are placed which is in the right hand third of the photo. balance is present because of the subjects in the foreground and background. He didn't use a telephoto lens with his photos. The camera lens

Warm Up 10/18

As I was looking through these images I felt like I was going on this journey with them. I was feeling the loss and the hope that the photographer was feeling. The photos felt raw and exposing to the photographer and I felt like I was viewing on something personal and intimate.    I think that the photos don't tell the whole story, and thats what he means by they don't define us. But they still say something about us and our story when you document something like that.    I think I could shoot photos like this because it would be my outlet if I was in this situation. It would be my way to share my side of cancer and my side of the troubles that are happening.    If I could write a letter to Angelo I would thank him for sharing such a personal and raw experience through his photos. I would also express my sorrow and apologies for his loss.

Mural Project

For our theme I was thinking about doing something along the lines of Austin life as a general idea. With more specific sub-themes of Austin Nature, Austin Movement, and Austin Monuments. Austin is a unique city and I feel like my group and I could do a lot with that.    Three things that I will mainly focus on are exposer, composition, and subject matter. When shooting in manual I usually think about if I have the perfect exposer. I also think about if I have the right settings to get the picture I want.     To display my groups project I was thinking we could create a blog about it. Our blog could have a post from each member and their pictures as well as any writing for each picture that they have to complete. Each separate post could be titled with the photographers name and what aspect of austin life they went for.

Great Black and White Photographers part 3

What drew me to Model's photos was her way of looking at things. She chose something out of the ordinary or something perceived as wrong to do, and made it a piece of art. She did a lot of street photography and of people throughout their daily lives. She also took a lot of photos of things that are funny or comical. Albert-Alberta Lisette Model  I see the powdered faces of the queens around me. I see the arrays of panty hose and outfits to put on.  I smell the hairspray and the dignity of these performers. I smell the makeup that they are wearing.    I hear the murmurs of the crowd outside. I can hear the rushing back and forth from the other queens making last minute touch ups on their look.  I taste the clown white powder floating through the air. I can taste the popcorn of the crowd that is behind the curtain. I feel the fine costumes that these queens put on. I can feel the heart beats of them before they walk on stage.  The Great American Summer L
